Republic of Ireland captain Katie McCabe is reportedly set to leave Arsenal Women when her contract expires this summer, according to reporting by Tom Garry in The Guardian.
The report states that no new deal is currently on the table following what have been described as “very respectful discussions” between the player and the club regarding her future. While no final decision has been publicly confirmed, the expectation is that Katie McCabe will move on as Arsenal prepare to refresh their squad ahead of next season.
McCabe has been with Arsenal for more than ten years and has played a central role in the most successful period of the club’s modern era. However, it is understood that the north London side are planning a summer rebuild, with a focus on bringing in younger players.

One of Arsenal’s primary targets is Ona Batlle, the Barcelona and Spain full-back. Batlle is almost four years younger than Katie McCabe and sources cited in the report indicate talks are progressing well, with Arsenal hopeful of securing her on a pre-contract agreement.

At 30, Katie McCabe is keen to continue playing regularly at the highest level and to remain competing for major honours. Her potential availability on a free transfer has not gone unnoticed, with interest reported from clubs in both the Women's Super League and the National Women's Soccer League.
McCabe is a fan favourite at Arsenal and her possible departure would be an emotional moment for both player and club. Neither Arsenal nor McCabe’s representatives have commented publicly on her future.
During her time at the club, Katie McCabe has helped Arsenal win the Women’s Super League in 2019, the FA Cup in 2016 and three League Cups. She was also a central figure in last season’s Champions League triumph, playing every minute of the campaign, and featured again on Sunday as Arsenal defeated Corinthians Women 3-2 after extra time to lift the inaugural Champions Cup.
