"Let's see..."- Liverpool star has now teased supporters with update on potential new deal

Liverpool hero Dominik Szoboszlai has provided a largely positive update regarding a possible contract extension at the club, even though there is no guarantee he will sign one.

The Hungarian has stood out as the Reds’ best player this season, arguably by some distance, shining in several positions and finding more consistency than anyone else.

Szoboszlai is a huge long-term figure for Liverpool, assuming they can keep him at Anfield, but it is only natural that interest in him could emerge from other huge clubs.

Speaking to reporters about his Reds future [via This Is Anfield], the 25-year-old made it clear that he wants to stay on, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2028:

“I would love to (stay). I like the city, I like the club, I like playing with these guys, I love Anfield, I love the fans, let’s see what the future holds. Let’s see what happens, hopefully everyone will be happy at the end. It’s not in my hands. There is no progression, but if the right offer comes, then let’s see.”

Liverpool simply must keep hold of Szoboszlai

Szoboslzai has shown this season what a vital figure he is for Liverpool, producing so much quality in a campaign that has seen lots of players struggle.

The Hungary captain has eight goals to his name, which is his best return for the Reds to date, while Steven Gerrard recently backed him to get even better in the coming years, as long as he remains level-headed:

“If he stays humble and keeps working at his game, he keeps wanting to develop and grow and improve, because you never stop at whatever age, you can always get better. If he stays humble and keeps working in the right way, he can get to another level. I think the talent is there, and I think he’ll have the right people around him to go again, to become an even better midfielder.”

Hopefully, those high up at Liverpool do their job and make sure Szoboszlai is given the shiny new contract that he deserves, allowing him to remain at Anfield for the peak years of his career.

He has all the tools to be a potential future Reds captain, while his quality both in and out of possession makes him an indispensable player.
