**Conor Bradley’s injury has seriously hampered Arne Slot’s ability to name the team he prefers.**
Liverpool have been poor this season, and while it’s true that the manager has been poor tactically at times, the Dutchman has been hamstrung by injuries this season – pardon the pun.
It’s not an unusual occurrence these days to see Dominik Szoboszlai start at right back. Injuries to Bradley, Jeremie Frimpong and Joe Gomez have made it impossible to name a starting XI with a player naturally suited to right back.
Even Wataru Endo has been spotted at right-back this season.
Liverpool terminate loan agreement with Ajax to recall James McConnell

[Ajax’s club website statement](https://www.ajax.nl/club/pers/persberichten/beeindiging-huurovereenkomst-james-mcconnell) provides an update on the right back situation for Liverpool, with McConnell heading back to Merseyside.
The statement reads: _“Ajax, James McConnell, and Liverpool FC have reached an agreement to formally terminate the player’s loan._
_“The administrative process has been completed, and the player himself has not been part of the Ajax squad since early January._
_“The 21-year-old defensive midfielder’s contract with Ajax originally ran until the end of the current season… He made a total of seven official appearances for Ajax’s first team.”_
Geertruida transfer not on as Calvin Ramsay is further iced out

While Liverpool investigated the possibility of signing Sunderland loanee Lutsharel Geertuida, it won’t happen this season.
As a result, McConnell will provide the cover Liverpool need.
It says a lot that Slot will not use Calvin Ramsay no matter what. Jurgen Klopp often opted against using the 23-year-old when he didn’t have other options as well.
Slot recently delivered a hammer blow to Ramsay’s hopes of ever becoming a regular at Liverpool recently.
When asked by a reporter why he the right-back hasn’t been given a chance despite the injury crisis, Slot brutally stated: _“He’s with us, **but I still think I have better options to play**.”_
Whether or not Slot is correct to ice the Scotsman out, that’s a huge indictment on his future at Anfield beyond this season.
When you consider how many players have played at right back this season, including Endo, Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch, it must be worrying for Ramsay to see McConnell recalled rather than being given a chance.
