The New York Knicks are not aggressively pursuing Giannis Antetokounmpo before the February 5 trade deadline because they like their current roster, though interest could be revisited later under certain conditions.
The New York Knicks are not aggressively pursuing two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo at the moment because they are satisfied with their current roster, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

"They are not showing that aggression with Giannis right now, and I think that's because they like this team," Windhorst said on ESPN's Get Up. "They don't think the Eastern Conference is a giant mountain to climb, and while this team has flaws, the entire East is limited in some capacity."
Windhorst added that the situation could change if Giannis is not traded before the February 5 deadline and the Knicks fail to win the Eastern Conference.
"I don't think we are heading in that direction right now," he said, referring to a potential Knicks push for the Milwaukee Bucks superstar.
The Knicks reportedly discussed a Giannis deal during the summer of 2025, but no agreement materialized.
Meanwhile, according to ESPN's Shams Charania, Giannis trade talks have recently escalated, with the Bucks submitting counteroffers to multiple proposals received over the weekend.
Charania reports that the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Golden State Warriors, and the Knicks remain in pursuit of Antetokounmpo.
