Chelsea are reportedly set to confirm a transfer exit this Deadline Day

Chelsea have reportedly agreed a transfer deadline day exit for youngster Ato Ampah, who is set to join Stoke City on a permanent deal.

The Blues have had a quiet January window for their recent standards, as they have not signed a single player while loanee Facundo Buonanotte has departed and Raheem Sterling has seen his contract terminated to bring an end to a largely unsuccessful spell at Stamford Bridge.

There is still time for Liam Rosenior’s side to bring in additions before the window closes but at present, an exit for 19-year-old Ampah is expected to be the next order of business.

The Ghana-born winger joined Chelsea at the age of 11 and made his professional debut for the club in the Conference League last season against FC Astana, in what remains his only appearance for the senior side. He has registered 19 goals and 18 assists in 75 appearances for the club’s Under-18, U19 and U21 sides and is an England U20 international.

Romano: Ampah set for Stoke move with ‘medical booked’

Fabrizio Romano reports on X that Ampah has had a medical booked at Stoke ahead of a permanent £3million move, which is expected to go ahead before the transfer deadline on Monday evening. A sell-on clause will be included in the deal.

Romano wrote: “EXCL: Stoke City agree deal to sign Ato Ampah from Chelsea on permanent move. SCFC booked medical today as Ampah will join soon with Chelsea keeping heavy sell-on clause. Transfer fee can be up to £3m package.”

Stoke are targeting a play-off place in the Championship and are five points behind sixth-placed Wrexham at present. They will hope the 19-year-old can inject some extra quality into their promotion push.
