Mikel Arteta uses just one word to describe Liam Rosenior's start at Chelsea

Amidst the drama of deadline day, Chelsea and Liam Rosenior are preparing for the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash against Arsenal on Tuesday night.

Chelsea are active on deadline day but not in terms of incoming signings. Instead, the club are working hard to sort out the futures of a number of players currently on the fringes of Liam Rosenior’s squad.

Aaron Anselmino, David Datro Fofana, Axel Disasi, Josh Acheampong, Harry McGlinchey and plenty more Chelsea players could leave today. Frankie Runham has finally completed a move to Ipswich Town.

But aside from the business of deadline day, Rosenior is preparing for his toughest challenge as Chelsea boss so far. The Blues take on Arsenal at The Emirates, needing to win to stand any chance of the final.

Mikel Arteta full of praise for Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior

Alejandro Garnacho’s brace for Chelsea has kept the Blues in with a chance of progressing to a Wembley date, with the Argentina international scoring twice at Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea losing 3-2.

Saturday’s 3-2 comeback win has seen Rosenior win six of his seven games, but the win over West Ham was far from convincing. However, Arteta said Rosenior is doing an “incredible” job since arriving.

“Liam is doing an incredible job. The tie has a context, a very specific one. We need to be very concrete to win it. Tomorrow we have home advantage, but we have a lot to do to beat a really good Chelsea side.”

Chelsea’s injury status going into Tuesday night semi-final

Chelsea will be without a few players. Of course, Tosin remains sidelined with a hamstring injury and will miss the game with long-term absentees Levi Colwill, Dario Essugo, Romeo Lavia, and Mykhailo Mudryk.

Rosenior has confirmed Estevao is being given time to sort out a personal matter, while the Chelsea boss also ruled out Jamie Gittens who has picked up a hamstring injury. Filip Jorgensen is close to a return.

Rosenior made seven changes to his Chelsea side on Saturday to face West Ham and more rotation is likely against The Gunners. Joao Pedro, Pedro Neto, Marc Cucurella and Andrey Santos could come in.
