Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns is dealing with a sprained ankle.

It has been more than a week since Devin Booker suffered a sprained right ankle against the Atlanta Hawks. The Phoenix Suns have dropped the latest update on Booker’s injury and his potential return date.

Speaking to reporters before the game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, coach Jordan Ott provided an update on Booker’s progress. Ott was a little vague about the possible timeline for the Suns star’s on-court return.

“We know who he is. As soon as he can get out there, he’s going to get out there, whether the All-Star break is tomorrow or in two weeks. He’s going to rehab like crazy. He was in there again this morning. Whenever he’s ready, he will be out there,” Ott said, via Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic.

Booker has missed the last five games because of a sprained ankle. Based on Ott’s comments, he’s doing his best to return as soon as possible and could be considered day-to-day any day now, with his next chance of suiting up coming on February 3 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Booker Re-Evaluated Over The Weekend

ESPN reported back on January 25 that Devin Booker was scheduled for re-evaluation in one week. That week passed over the weekend, and coach Jordan Ott made a startling revelation about Booker’s rehab.

“He just continues to progress. He is skipping steps basically on how fast he can do it. I think this has been his history. He’s had other injuries and been able to recover incredibly fast, too,” Ott said.

While “skipping steps” is certainly concerning, it’s probably just an expression by Ott regarding the pace Booker is in during his recovery. The recently named All-Star reserve suffered a bad-looking injury, so he was lucky that he was ruled out for a long period.

Booker’s right ankle was at a bad angle after he stepped on Onyeka Okongwu‘s foot while running back on defense late in the third quarter. He wasn’t in a walking boot after the game, so he was fortunate that it wasn’t severe.

Booker Comments on Being Named an All-Star

For the fifth time in his career, Devin Booker was named an NBA All-Star. It was a well-deserved accolade for Booker, who is averaging 25.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game this season.

Joining the Suns’ broadcast team on Sunday’s game against the Clippers, Booker reacted to his All-Star nod. He was happy about the recognition, but he wanted everyone to know that the team’s success is more important, especially after many counted them out before the season started.

“First, I’ve got to thank the team. I’ve had statistically some better years where I didn’t make the game and that all comes back to team success. I’ve been hearing that since I’ve been in the league and we’ve exceeded expectations from top to bottom. It’s been fun to turn this thing around and we’re playing some pretty good basketball,” Booker said, via Wendy Lopez of Burn City Sports.

The Suns already reached their win total from last season, with a current record of 30-20. Booker had a better statistical campaign in 2024-25, but the team wasn’t winning a lot of games.
