The Dallas Mavericks have been linked to trading Anthony Davis for a few weeks. Davis hasn’t worked well with Dallas since they acquired him in the Luka Doncic trade. He has been injured for most of the last two seasons, as he has only played 29 games in the last two years.

Davis is still injured and won’t be ready to play for a few weeks. That is hurting his trade value even further. Still, the Mavericks are trying to move him before the trade deadline. Bringing back the proper assets in return for him might be a little tough, though.

Mavericks Send Anthony Davis to Raptors in Trade Idea

Here is the full trade proposal:

Raptors Receive: Anthony Davis

Mavericks Receive: RJ Barrett, Jakob Poeltl, Ochai Agbaji, and a top-three protected 2027 first-round pick from Toronto

Nets Receive:D’Angelo Russell and a 2027 second-round pick from Toronto

The Raptors currently sit fourth in the Eastern Conference standings. They also have the 11th-worst offense in the NBA. Bringing in Davis would help them be a more consistent offensive team, especially in the paint. He also wouldn’t hurt their defense, as he is one of the best rim protectors in the league.

Dallas would receive three solid players in addition to a first-round pick to help them rebuild the team around Cooper Flagg. Barrett and Poeltl would fit well next to Flagg. That’s what the Mavericks are going to be focused on moving forward: finding players who fit well next to Flagg.

This would be one of the best packages that Dallas would be able to find in return for Davis, especially since he won’t be ready to play again until just before the playoffs start. Toronto needs someone who can dominate in the paint, and that’s what Davis can do when he is healthy.

The Mavericks Are Running Out of Time to Make an Anthony Davis Deal

Time is running out for the Mavs to make a deal. If a deal doesn’t get done by Thursday, they will be stuck keeping him until the offseason. At that point, Davis’ market might open up with more teams having a handle on their cap space for next season.

The Mavericks would prefer to move on from Davis as soon as possible so they can move on from the cataclysmic mistake they made. Still, they want to get enough value from him to move and rebuild around Flagg for the next few seasons.

Davis’ stats in Dallas have been much worse than they were in Los Angeles, which is another reason why the Mavericks want to move him. Dallas wants as many first-round picks as possible in return for him. The Mavericks won’t have a shot to make the playoffs this year, even if Davis returns.
