Arsenal and Chelsea not giving up on Corinthians player–Blues offer is biggest sign

Arsenal and Chelsea remain among the clubs watching Breno Bidon. However, Corinthians do not expect the midfielder to leave during the current window.

The club’s football executive, Marcelo Paz, confirmed that enquiries exist but stressed that timing is still under Corinthians’ control.

Speaking to Globo Esporte after Corinthians’ Super Cup win over Flamengo, Paz addressed the situation directly. “He has a very strong contract, a secure deal, with a long time left at Corinthians. He’s receiving enquiries, but he’s unlikely to leave in this window,” he said.

Focus shifts to the mid-year window

Paz then pointed to the European calendar as a key factor. According to him, real movement tends to arrive later. “The mid-year window is when squads in Europe really take shape. It’s a more aggressive window, with more movement,” he explained. “For now, we’re going to enjoy Bidon as much as possible.”

The executive also highlighted the player’s profile and importance to the squad. He praised Bidon as a “great player” and a “great kid”, underlining why the club are reluctant to rush any decision.

Arsenal and Chelsea stay in the picture

Those comments align with what has already been reported. Premier League clubs have followed Bidon closely, with Arsenal and Chelsea standing out as the most concrete names so far. Other local outlets are keeping the London links fresh.

Chelsea are the only club linked with a reported offer, while Arsenal have limited their move to enquiries. Both clubs remain attentive, but neither have forced Corinthians’ hand at this stage.

Planning ahead at Corinthians

Behind the scenes, Corinthians have started to prepare for different scenarios. As reported earlier, the club know that replacing Bidon would not be simple. It would also be costly, both on the pitch and financially.

That reality explains the cautious approach and the desire to push any major decision towards the middle of the year.

Bidon remains under contract with Corinthians until December 2029. His release clause stands at €100m for foreign clubs. He is also one of the main assets in a season when the board are targeting significant income from player sales.

For now, Arsenal and Chelsea continue to watch. Corinthians hold the reins. As Paz summed it up, the club intend to enjoy Bidon while they can, fully aware that European interest is growing and that tougher decisions may arrive when the next window opens.
