Joel Ndala is leaving Hull City to join Yorkshire rivals, Sheffield Wednesday, in a deadline-day move that will see the teenager play regular football.

Ndala has been on loan at the MKM Stadium from Manchester City but has found himself down the pecking order in recent weeks following the arrival of Lewis Koumas, Yu Hirakawa and the return to fitness of Joe Gelhardt.

The 19-year-old was left out of the squad that were 1-0 winners at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, with Koumas coming off the bench to score the winning goal nine minutes from time.

Both Ndala and fellow winger David Akintola were omitted from the travelling party at Ewood Park, and now it looks like the England youngster will move to the stricken Owls, while his Nigerian teammate could yet return to Turkey.

Like City, bottom side Wednesday are unable to pay a loan fee under the terms of their own EFL restrictions, so they will get Ndala without having to pay anything.

During his spell at City, he notched up 17 appearances in the Championship, plus one each in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. It was in the Carabao Cup where he netted his first Tigers goal, away at Wrexham back in August.

His second City strike came away at Pride Park to drag his side level, before they were eventually beaten 2-1 by Derby County. The winger started 10 league games and was named in the squad on 25 occasions.

Ndala's departure is expected to be the third of a quiet deadline day for City, with James Furlong and Brandon Williams also moving on in search of regular football.

John Egan is set to remain at the club and be in the squad for Tuesday night's home meeting with Watford at the MKM Stadium, though Akintola could yet move on with the Turkish window not closing until Friday.
