It’s been a quiet January transfer window so far for Chelsea, although a few lesser moves are still in the pipelines.
The Blues haven’t really known what to do with David Datro Fofana since they signed him from Molde 3 years ago. He’s clearly not got a high enough ceiling to be a Chelsea player, but they also haven’t managed to find him successful loans, despite his obvious eye for goal.
After a solid spell in Turkey, it looks like he’s about to have a new destination – France.
He will head on loan to join our sister club Strasbourg, according to French journalist Marc Mechenoua, who has called a few moves correctly recently.

Mechenoua says that “everything is in place” for the striker to join Strasbourg, so that the Ivorian can head to their sister club for the rest of the season.
Mallorca and Auxerre were also interested, but have seen their offers turned down. Clearly we’re wanting to favour our sister club, who are an attacker down after Chelsea-bound Emmanuel Emegha’s latest injury.
DDF will have to work his way into the first team picture, given Joaquin Panichelli is having a good season as Strasbourg’s number 9 so far this season.
We wish him all the best – hopefully returning to a top 5 league can help him raise his profile for a future sale.
In other news…
The biggest potential incoming move for the Blues was Jeremy Jacquet, who now is on his way to Liverpool it seems. That’s a blow for us, and anyone who wanted us to sign the bright young talent.
Jacquet looks like he’s heading to Liverpool now, backing up rumours we had in previous days about such a move being close.
