'Waiting for Liverpool, Real Madrid' - Bayern Munich star ready to reject '€20m euros gross' to leave

The 2026 summer transfer window is promising to be a critical one with several major clubs in limbo or transition.

Arsenal could head into the summer market with the bragging rights of being Premier League champions which we saw was critical in helping Liverpool land the likes of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz.

Liverpool will struggle to command the same excitement after their jarring 2024-25 performacne so far.

Liverpool want Dayot Upamecano with player waiting for a big club to court him

Looking ahead to the summer transfer window, it’s going to be a big one.

It’s bound to be a complicated one as most of the world’s best players will be in North America for the FIFA World Cup, so the best of the best will come at even more of a premium than usual.

Liverpool are set to lose Ibrahima Konate on a free contract but he’s not the only one.

Bayern Munich are set to lose Dayot Upamecano on a free transfer which is strange because they left RB Leipzig at the same time – the summer of 2021.

Dayot Upamecano

Plettenberg said: “Everyone is waiting for his commitment, his signature. His contract is ready. But Bayern Munich will not improve their offer.

“Upamecano can sign it, [taking him until] 2030 or 2031. There’s a release clause included from the summer of 2027. He can earn €20m euros gross per year and receive a big signing fee, together with his agent.

“But Bayern is waiting for weeks, they want a decision soon. But my opinion is he’s waiting for Liverpool, for Real Madrid.

“Liverpool is interested in Upamecano, we can confirm that.”

Weird twist of fate could see Liverpool sign Upamecano and release Konate

In 2021, Liverpool signed Konate from RB Leipzig for a £34m fee.

This happened after Bayern Munich signed Dayot Upamecano, originally Liverpool’s first choice pick. Konate has since been a wonderful player for the club, excluding his struggles this season.

But with Konate out of contract at the end of the season, Liverpool could release him as a free agent. Unless new terms are agreed, he will leave Anfield.

Liverpool are reportedly unwilling to match Konate’s demands and the two parties remain some distance apart in their negotiations over a new contract beyond 2026.
