Report: Cavaliers reviewed Bucks' Bobby Portis trade before Kings deal

The NBA trade deadline usually takes a while to get going, but the Cleveland Cavaliers were able to jump in early and make moves.

Over the weekend, Cleveland agreed to a deal with the Sacramento Kings. The Cavs sent De'Andre Hunter on the move for the second straight year, while Cleveland got guards Keon Ellis and Dennis Schroder in return from the Kings.

The deal also involved the Chicago Bulls, who would receive Dario Saric and two second-round picks.

Report: Bucks offered Kyle Kuzma and Bobby Portis in exchange for De'Andre Hunter

Although the deal got done, recent reports have revealed that the Milwaukee Bucks reached out to Cleveland for De'Andre Hunter.

ClutchPoints' Bret Siegel explained that before trading for Keon Ellis and Dennis Schroder, the Cavaliers turned down a deal with Milwaukee.

The Bucks were offering Bobby Portis and Kyle Kuzma for De'Andre Hunter, but Cleveland declined the offer before completing the exchange with Sacramento.

Instead, the Cavs were interested in guard depth. Injuries to Darius Garland and Sam Merrill, along with Lonzo Ball's struggles to find consistency in his first year with the team made Cleveland's front office make a move.

Not just this, but they were also able to shed the over $48 million the team owes Hunter this season and next.
