Sheffield Wednesday snap up Manchester City winger in last-gasp deadline day deal

Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of Manchester City talent, Joel Ndala, in a late deadline day deal.

It was reported earlier in the evening that Wednesday were trying to work quickly in order to bring the 19-year-old on board at Hillsborough, but it wasn’t a straightforward move given that his loan with Hull City had to be terminated first.

Now, with that termination finalised, Ndala’s switch to S6 has now been completed, with the club announcing his arrival bang on 7pm.

Joel Ndala is a Sheffield Wednesday player

The club said on their official website, “Wednesday have added to the January ranks by signing Joel Ndala from Premier League Manchester City. The wideman joins the Owls on a loan deal that runs until the end of the season.

“Ndala brings with him Championship pedigree, having made 19 appearances for Hull City this season whilst on loan with the Tigers. The 19-year-old has been on Manchester City’s books from the age of 10 and proved a big hit for the Under-18s side over the Pennines.... He now links up with Wednesday until May. Welcome to Hillsborough, Joel!”

Given the last-minute nature of the transfer, The Star understands that the winger hasn’t actually made it to Sheffield yet, and with Henrik Pedersen’s Owls in action against Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night – in a game where Ndala isn’t eligible – it’s thought that the newest Wednesday player will only join up with his new club later this week.

Ndala has played 19 times for Hull this season, scoring twice, and will be hoping to add to his tally now that he’s back wearing blue once again.
