Liverpool have fallen short of expectations after their eye-catching additions in the summer transfer window. The Reds recruited from a position of strength as Premier League champions, twice breaking the club's record fee to sign Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.

Arne Slot’s side were widely tipped to retain their Premier League crown before a ball was kicked. The early results indicated those predictions could be correct, but Liverpool’s form soon tailed off, leaving the team fighting for a Champions League spot.

Isak has struggled to live up to his £125million price tag and has since sustained a serious injury. Fellow forward Hugo Ekitike, on the other hand, has proven to be an instant hit.

The Reds beat Newcastle United to the France international’s signature, and the £69m arrival needed little time to settle in, scoring on his Premier League debut. However, the former PSG striker earns a fraction of Isak’s salary.

Spotrac reports that Isak, who was signed for a British record transfer fee, earns £280,000 per week at Liverpool. Arriving with much fanfare after his successful spell at Newcastle United, the striker was still adapting to Slot’s side at the time of his injury, scoring three goals in 16 appearances.

Isak sits third in the squad’s wage bill and is paid 40 per cent more than Ekitike. The French forward agreed a weekly wage of £200,000 when joining from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer.

Ekitike’s wage still sees him occupy joint-fourth in the club’s wage structure. Cody Gakpo and £116m signing Wirtz also earn £200,000 per week, according to Spotrac.

Liverpool’s top two earners are reportedly Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. The latter signed a new two-year contract towards the end of last season, with the club captain receiving £350,000 per week.

However, Salah is unsurprisingly the club’s highest earner with a weekly wage of £400,000 after also agreeing his fresh deal in April 2025. The club legend sits third on Liverpool’s all-time scorer list after signing from Roma in 2017.

Andy Robertson misses out on the top spots in Liverpool’s wage bill, with his £160,000 weekly salary placing him seventh within the squad. Ibrahima Konate’s reported weekly salary of £70,000 puts him 18th in the list.
