The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly one of four teams pursuing Giannis Antetokounmpo ahead of the February 5 trade deadline.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Wolves and Giannis chatter dates back to the summer.
"Based on everything I know, it's largely sparked by Antetokounmpo's admiration for Ant Edwards," Stein said. "Giannis is said to be an Anthony Edwards fan and would like to end up with him if he's leaving Milwaukee.
"The only way the Wolves can construct a deal now, they're going to have to include Jaden McDaniels. They do not want to trade Jaden McDaniels," Stein added.
NBA reporter Evan Sidery also points out that Minnesota's aggressive pursuit of Giannis is influenced by the team's new ownership group. Landing a superstar like Antetokounmpo to pair with Edwards would be a dream scenario for owners Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez.
With that in mind, Minnesota is a team to watch closely over the next 72 hours.
A potential Timberwolves trade package for Giannis could include Jaden McDaniels, Naz Reid, Rob Dillingham, and Joan Beringer.
