Mamadou Sarr releases statement after making his return to Chelsea

Chelsea’s January transfer window has resulted in Mamadou Sarr being recalled, as they look to reinforce the defensive options.

The Chelsea board remains the driving force behind the club’s recruitment strategy, shifting their focus to Jeremy Jacquet, a young player who fits their mould.

However, weeks of talks came to nothing, as Jacquet is signing for Premier League rivals Liverpool.

A central defender is definitely required at Chelsea, but one with experience. It’s baffling that there still hasn’t been a like-for-like replacement for Thiago Silva, and it shows at times.

Tosin Adarabioyo is the most experienced at 28.

And, now we see another young defender re-join the fold.

Mamadou Sarr sends a message after returning to Chelsea

Mamadou Sarr was one of the shining lights for Senegal during their AFCON triumph, stepping up after Kalidou Koulibaly’s injury in the semi-finals.

And Chelsea were impressed and have now recalled him from his loan spell at Strasbourg.

Here’s what the defender had to say on Instagram.

‘This club that gave me everything, that offered me the chance to know the national team, experience incredible emotions and grow through an exceptional group.

During these 18 months I have shared intense and magical moments that will be etched forever.

I want to thank the entire club, the president, the staff and all the people in the shadow who work every day to make this institution live.

And finally a big thank you to my teammates, my brothers. I wish you to finish the season well and to go together to achieve all the goals we set.

Merci Strasbourg et allez Racing💙🤍’
