Still only 20, the young centre-back has a bright future ahead of him and continues the trend of Liverpool signing promising stoppers.
Last year saw the arrival of Giovanni Leoni, who has missed the bulk of 2025/26 due to injury.
But two more defenders who were previously on Liverpool’s radar have now been named.
Liverpool missed out on Leny Yoro and Dean Huijsen
Writing in The Guardian on Deadline Day, Andy Hunter provided an insight into the Jacquet deal.

When doing so, he said that Liverpool missed out on Leny Yoro, who is now at Manchester United, and Real Madrid’s Dean Huijsen.
He said: “Liverpool’s £60m deal for Jeremy Jacquet (£55m plus £5m in add-ons) is in keeping with long-held plans to rebuild their central defence with some of the most promising young talent in Europe. Leny Yoro and Dean Huijsen – who Liverpool missed out on – and Giovanni Leoni, who did arrive at Anfield last summer but whose debut season has been ruined by an ACL injury, were also part of that strategy.
“Several young defenders have been signed to the club’s academy in recent weeks too.
“Jacquet, the 20-year-old Rennes defender, will undergo his Liverpool medical today and join the club in the summer.”
Huijsen joined Madrid from AFC Bournemouth in the summer of 2025.
He has since made 29 appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos, and according to Transfermarkt, now has a market value of €70m, which is around £60.6m.
Jacquet, meanwhile, is joining Liverpool for an initial £50m plus £5m in add-ons, while Transfermarkt give him a market value of €20m.

How is Leny Yoro faring
Similarly, Yoro has been a regular feature at Manchester United, who have climbed above Liverpool in the Premier League table.
However, since Michael Carrick took temporary charge of the Red Devils, the centre-back’s minutes have declined.
He was left on the bench for wins over Manchester City and Arsenal, and was brought on late against Fulham this past weekend.
Yoro has a market value of €55m at present.
