Liverpool’s home, away and third kits for next season have already been ‘leaked’

The overarching reaction to Liverpool’s three 'leaked' kits ahead of the 2026/27 campaign is a mixed bag so far. Adidas’ standout work this season was the Premier League champions’ retro-inspired home kit, which sparked a record-breaking launch day and saw sales rise by more than 700 per cent compared to last year, marking a nostalgic and successful reunion.

But the iconic three-stripe brand also found plenty of success with the away and third kits. Going forward, those of an Anfield persuasion should feel in safe hands when it comes to their wardrobe, as the Reds have proven to be one of the most marketable clubs in world football through partnerships with the likes of Google Pixel and, more recently, Tommy Hilfiger.

If the three leaked designs, revealed well ahead of schedule, prove to be accurate, next season will see Arne Slot’s side roll back the years once again. The current home shirt fittingly harks back to the Fernando Torres era, just as Hugo Ekitike shows shades of the Spaniard in his movement and goalscoring instinct. Meanwhile, the white away shirt features an 1892-style crest, and the sea-green third kit references the 1991 season.

The leaked home shirt for next season is likely to be a hit with supporters of a certain vintage, with Adidas expected to pay tribute to the iconic 1989 Candy-fronted ‘speck’ shirt. That year, Kenny Dalglish led the Reds to a league title, though the season was overshadowed by the Hillsborough Disaster - an event that also strengthened the spirit and soul of the city.

Meanwhile, the away shirt takes inspiration from the 1986 white Crown Paints-fronted design - the year Dalglish became only player-manager to ever win a league, having also paired it with an FA Cup triumph, with Ian Rush netting 33 goals across all competitions. Countering expectations of three historically inspired kits, the third kit is unlike anything Liverpool have worn before. Black shorts are already a no-go, given their associations with the old enemy Manchester United, and the red-and-black blocky design might prove too busy for Reds supporters, especially compared to the success in simplicity achieved by the other two kits.

It’s worth reminding those eager to jump the gun - whether getting overly excited or veering into pessimism - that leaked shirts rarely end up looking exactly as they do in the final product. That said, the reaction so far has been mixed, with most (not all) of an Anfield persuasion happy with the home and away shirts but feeling underwhelmed by the third.

"Little disappointed in these in comparison to the earlier leaks. The checkers on the third would have been nice," one X user wrote, as another added: "3rd looks bad. Home is great, the only one that can compare to this season's." Elsewhere, a third remarked:

"This is glorious, don't like the third but the home and away, take my money."

A fourth continued: "Home kit is an all-timer, just needs a trefoil on it," while a fifth concluded: "Like the third but struggling to think when it will ever be worn. Not a fan of the home. Brings back bad memories."
