Liverpool’s Premier League trip to Nottingham Forest has been rescheduled. Despite returning to winning ways, the Reds will be disappointed to have finished the weekend in the same position they started.

Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Newcastle marked a return to form for Liverpool after collecting just four points from their previous five games. Arne Slot’s side came close to breaking back into the top four.

If it weren’t for stoppage-time winners for both Manchester United and Chelsea against Fulham and West Ham, respectively, the Reds would now be level with the former, while the latter would trail by a point.

As things stand, it is the Premier League champions who find themselves chasing their rivals, with the upcoming fixtures set to test their credentials for a spot in next season’s Champions League.

Liverpool supporters have had to adjust their plans after the league trip to Nottingham Forest was moved. The Reds were set to play at the City Ground on Saturday, February 21 at 3pm, but the match is now on Sunday, February 22 at 2pm, live on Sky Sports.

The change comes as Forest, finishing 13th, must play a two-legged Europa League play-off against Fenerbahce, starting Thursday, February 19.

A Premier League statement read: “Nottingham Forest’s UEFA Europa League playoff match on Thursday 19 February has led to their home Premier League fixture against Liverpool being moved from Saturday 21 February to Sunday 22 February (14:00 GMT kick-off).”

Liverpool fans face uncertainty over the next two months due to European commitments affecting both Arne Slot’s side and their upcoming opponents.

The home clash with Tottenham Hotspur is set for Sunday, March 15 at 4:30pm on Sky Sports but could be moved to Saturday depending on the scheduling of the Reds’ and Spurs’ Champions League round of 16 ties, which take place midweek around the same period.
