Liverpool confirm agreement to sign Jeremy Jacquet - when will he join and how much will he cost?

Jeremy Jacquet’s expected Liverpool arrival and transfer fee as Reds agree deal

Liverpool have confirmed they have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jeremy Jacquet after an intense end to their pursuit of his signature.

The club released an official statement at 10.30pm on Monday, long after the transfer window closed. There were plenty of updates regarding Liverpool’s movement to sign Jacquet on Deadline Day.

Liverpool confirm agreement for Jeremy Jacquet transfer

Ending the ongoing speculation over their push to sign Jacquet, Liverpool confirmed they had finalised an agreement for the 20-year-old.

“Liverpool have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jeremy Jacquet from Stade Rennais, with the defender set to join the club ahead of the 2026-27 season, subject to a work permit and international clearance.

“The Reds have secured a deal for the 20-year-old that will see him complete the remainder of the current campaign in Ligue 1 and move to Anfield in the summer on a long-term contract.”

Jacquet will complete a similar move to Giorgi Mamardashvili, who agreed a deal with Liverpool in August 2024 and joined the club a year later. Jacquet will remain with Rennes and join Liverpool once the current season ends.

The centre-back completed a Deadline Day medical and has snubbed others in order to join the Anfield ranks. Liverpool have seen off competition from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United to secure Jacquet’s signature.

Jeremy Jacquet Liverpool transfer fee

Paul Joyce has reported that Jacquet will cost the Reds a total of £60 million. The fee will involve an initial £55 million plus an extra £5 million in add-ons. The defender will join his new side on a five-year contract.

Fans could see Jacquet jump straight into the action once he arrives at Liverpool, as it remains to be seen whether Ibrahima Konate will remain at the club or not. The Frenchman has already rejected contract offers from Liverpool and at this rate, he is due to become a free agent in the summer.

Jacquet’s exit this summer will mark a club record sale for Rennes. Their current record stands at £55.5 million after their sale of Jeremy Doku to Manchester City in 2023.

On talks of his player’s move, Rennes head coach Habib Beye said: “It’s the reality of the market. The club he joins will offer him Champions League football and what is currently the best league in the world. We simply don’t have the means to fight.”
