Giannis trade plans of Warriors take huge blow, key reasons revealed

According to Jake Fischer, a potential Bay Area landing might turn Giannis off, as he'll join an old Golden State team and could absorb criticism like Kevin Durant in teaming up with Steph Curry.

The Golden State Warriors are widely considered one of the favorites to land Giannis Antetokounmpo. But the question right now for the Dubs is: How interested is Giannis, on the one hand, in joining their side?

Apparently, there are doubts surrounding the Warriors' trade chances in acquiring Antetokounmpo. Per NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Greek star could be unconvinced to join an old team and draw significant flak for uniting with Stephen Curry, which is similar to what Kevin Durant is enduring until today.

“League sources say that Golden State is aware of recent rumblings that Antetokounmpo can't be assumed to be as eager as he was once perceived to be to relocate to Stephen Curry's town and team. How credible are such rumblings? Presumably only Giannis knows for sure," Fischer wrote.

"Yet I have heard from sources briefed on the situation that some in the know suspect Antetokounmpo could be turned off by the idea of joining an older team and/or facing the sort of criticism that Kevin Durant continues to absorb to this day about teaming up with Curry.”
