Rachel DeMita was not a fan of Reggie Miller's NBA player comparison for Caitlin Clark on Sunday evening.
Clark, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, appeared on NBC's first "Sunday Night Basketball" game of the 2025-26 NBA season. She joined Reggie Miller and Carmelo Anthony at the desk at Madison Square Garden. During her segment, Maria Taylor asked Miller and Anthony, two of the NBA's all-time greats, to give a player comparison for Clark.
Anthony went with Lakers star Luka Doncic, talking about how great of a shooter he is and how much he dominates the game on the offensive end. Miller, though, went with Payton Pritchard. Pritchard, 28, is hardly a star, but he's averaging 16.8 points, 5.3 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game.
Clark was understandably stunned by the comparison - and not in a good way.
"I like Payton Pritchard from Boston. The way he's able to handle the basketball. He makes big shots when the shot clock's running down. A lot like this young lady right here," Miller said, pointing to Clark. "He isn't afraid of the big moment and is a champion like she is soon to be."
Former women's basketball player Rachel DeMita reacted to Miller's surprising comparison on Monday afternoon.
DeMita sounds off on Miller's pick
"It could have been anyone," she said.
"Trae Young, Steve Nash, Damian Lillard, Steph Curry. I know she gets the Steph Curry comp a lot and her game is very different. They play very different off of the ball. But if you're just talking about like, just compare her to someone who shoots long 3s."
"Everyone was just like, 'huh?'"
Miller didn't intend to slight Clark with the comparison, but it's clear that most fans don't agree with it.
