Liverpool waited until the final day of the transfer window to make their first senior addition.
Better late than never, the Reds confirmed the signing of Jeremy Jacquet on Monday evening.
The 20-year-old centre-back, whom Jamie Redknapp loves already, is set to spend the rest of 2025/26 in France before joining the Merseysiders in the summer.

However, based on various comments made around the stopper’s transfer, FSG perhaps should have done more over the winter.
Jamie Carragher, Danny Murphy and Paul Merson question Liverpool’s transfer business
When news of Liverpool signing Jacquet emerged, Paul Merson said he was shocked that the centre-back wasn’t joining until later this year.
Later on Deadline Day, we saw Jamie Carragher tell FSG to sign another player who would be available for selection in the remainder of this season.

Now, speaking to talkSPORT, former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy also questioned why a second signing was not made due to the lack of cover in Slot’s backline.
He said: “Needed somebody. So if the stipulation from Ren was that you can buy him for the future. Yeah. Which fits the model for Liverpool, a young up-and-coming player, the likes of Ekitike, Kerkez, Wirtz. Fine.
“Have him in the summer, but then Liverpool should have been looking to do some loan business because I still don’t see the cover.
“You know they’re still fighting for that Champions League and FA Cup. Season isn’t over. It’s not written off.”

When are Jeremie Frimpong and Joe Gomez back from injury?
Instead, Liverpool will now clash with Manchester City on Sunday afternoon without a recognised right-back and no proper cover for their starting centre-backs.
Slot has already said that, after picking up an issue against Qarabag recently, Jeremie Frimpong will be out for a few weeks.
Similarly, Joe Gomez remains sidelined, with an exact date for his return yet to be confirmed.
On the bright side, Liverpool didn’t end up loaning out Calvin Ramsay, so maybe he will get some much-needed minutes to cover for Frimpong and Gomez.
