Axel Disasi breaks silence on Chelsea 'situation' after completing West Ham loan

Late on Monday night, Axel Disasi’s loan move from Chelsea to West Ham United was eventually confirmed as the Blues bomb squad finally lost its last member.

Earlier on in the January window, Raheem Sterling had been released after Axel Disasi had been put back into first-team training at Chelsea by Liam Rosenior. But Disasi has now decided to leave Chelsea on loan.

It is the second time that France international Disasi, who cost Chelsea a whopping £39m in the summer of 2023 from Monaco, has left Stamford Bridge on loan. Disasi previously went on loan to Aston Villa.

Having failed to play for Chelsea in the first half of the season, Disasi has now completed a loan move to West Ham. Disasi’s loan move does not include a permanent option, with West Ham paying a loan fee.

Disasi opens up on ‘situation’ at Chelsea in West Ham interview

It has been more than a year since Disasi last played for Chelsea, coming on as a substitute during a 3-1 Premier League win over Wolves in January 2025. He went on loan to Aston Villa shortly after that.

Disasi was left out of Chelsea’s Premier League squad during the first half of the season after coming back to Stamford Bridge following his Villa loan. Now, defender Disasi has opened up on West Ham’s website.

“I’m very happy to be here. I’m just ready to fight and to play games. Everyone knows my situation in the last few months, so I just want to get back on the field, feel the sensation of games, and help the team.

“The Club has given me the opportunity. I spoke with all the people here, I feel they really wanted me, so that’s why I’m here today. It’s an exciting challenge. We know the Club is not at the place it should be.”

Axel Disasi likely to go straight into West Ham’s starting XI

One of West Ham’s main issues, aside from a clear lack of energy in the middle of the pitch, are the mistakes made by the club’s central defenders. Max Kilman is struggling to show why he cost £40m.

Jean Clair Todibo is now set to be banned after being sent off against Chelsea on the weekend for violently manhandling Joao Pedro. So, Disasi is likely to go straight in and get plenty of game time.

West Ham face a massive game this weekend, as the Hammers go to Burnley in a relegation battle that sees Nuno Espirito Santo’s 18th-placed side take on former West Ham and Chelsea boss Scott Parker.
