Mikel Arteta’s response is going viral after hearing Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has described Arsenal’s style of play as ‘boring’.
Scholes caused a stir last week by claiming Arsenal could go down as “the worst team to win” the Premier League title in the competition’s history. The former England international made the comment off the back of Arsenal’s shock 3-2 defeat to Man Utd on January 25.
The Gunners currently boast a six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table and have clearly been the division’s standout team with 14 matches remaining. However, second-placed Manchester City will continue to chase them throughout the final three months of the campaign. Aston Villa, in third place with 46 points, also remain firmly in the title conversation.
Scholes was called out for his comments by Arsenal legend Ian Wright on The Overlap’s Stick to Football, prompting the midfield icon to backtrack slightly. He said:
"I meant to say the most boring team, not the worst team, sorry. You will be boring, it doesn't matter how you do it, does it? Doesn't matter how you do it."
Wright responded: "I'd take boring and win. I'm very excited because I believe, yes, we do have to win it, we do have to win it, and I'm confident enough that we will do it, I'm confident."

Arteta's Reaction to Hearing Scholes Has Called Arsenal 'Boring'
Paul Scholes on punditry duty before Leicester City v Manchester United in 2020.
However, it’s safe to say Arteta doesn’t agree with Scholes’ revised opinion that Arsenal are ‘boring’. Facing questions from the press ahead of his side’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Chelsea on Tuesday night, Arteta was asked: “People say that Arsenal’s style is not very exciting?”
Arteta replied: “I heard completely the opposite. All around Europe that we are the most exciting team in Europe - the most goals, the most clean sheets, so maybe I have a different resources.”
Asked why he thinks people are saying these things about Arsenal, Arteta said: “I have no idea. I don’t know which people. You tell me the names and the surname and the address and the email, maybe we can talk!”
A reporter then said: “Mr Paul Scholes of Manchester”. When the reporter repeated Scholes’ name as a prominent example, Arteta replied in a very dismissive tone: “Okay, good…” Watch the clip below:
Scholes is arguably the greatest midfielder in Premier League history, but for Arteta not to even give his comment the time of day is very telling. One football fan on X (Twitter), commented:
“Arteta's reaction to Scholes being mentioned is hilarious. Nobody rates that guy as a pundit.”
While another tweeted: "Savage. No response needed after fishing out the name, just to let him know his opinion doesn't matter."
