Crystal Palace are “readying themselves” for offers for Liverpool target Adam Wharton in the summer transfer window, journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed.
The 21-year-old is an exciting option for the Reds at the end of the season, with various rumours suggesting they want to bring him in from Selhurst Park at that point.
Now, speaking to Football Insider, O’Rourke stated that Palace are prepared for interest and offers for Wharton this summer, mentioning Liverpool as one of the teams in the mix:
“I don’t see Palace willing to let him go with everything else that’s been going on at the club. There’s no doubt there will be interest in Adam Wharton coming to summer transfer window. Liverpool are admirers of him, Manchester United are also admirers of him as well and there’s interest from other Premier Leagues and from abroad.
“Look, I’m sure Palace are readying themselves for interest and offers for Adam Wharton in the summer transfer window. They’ll face a real fight to keep hold of him in the summer window with the likes of Liverpool, Man United, Chelsea plus others probably all very much interested in the 21 year old.”
Wharton a young star who ticks many boxes for Liverpool
This summer feels like the right time for Wharton to enjoy a fresh challenge, with Palace dropping off after losing key figures such as Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi.
The England international ticks so many boxes for Liverpool, possessing great natural talent, working hard for the team and adding to the homegrown quota within the squad, with Thomas Hitzlsperger hailing him:
“He is still a young player, but the way he moves around the pitch he looks so calm and he hasn’t even played 50 Premier League games yet. Being so central and being so inexperienced yet having such an effect on this team is really impressive. A modern number six who passes the ball but also wins it back.”

Granted, Wharton’s price tag may end up being slightly high, due to him being English, but he could mature into a mainstay for the Reds and England for around a decade.
