Sheffield United have bolstered their academy ranks with two new additions.
Sheffield United have strengthened their youth ranks by completing the signings of Harry McGlinchey and Chris Eadie.
Left-back McGlinchey has arrived in S2 following a stint in Chelsea’s academy while attacker Eadie has arrived from Rangers for an undisclosed fee.
United had a busy end to the winter transfer window on Monday, completing three deadline day signings, landing Leo Hjelde on loan from Sunderland, Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City and Joe Rothwell on a permanent deal from Rangers.
Their deadline day moves to Bramall Lane took the Blades’ tally of incomings in the mid-season window to four, following the loan signing of Hi-Jana Hoever from Wolverhampton Wanderers a few weeks earlier.
As well as thinking about the here and now, United have also looked to the future by bolstering their youth ranks with the additions of McGlinchey and Eadie, whose arrivals were confirmed this morning (Tuesday).
Confirming McGlinchey’s exit from Stamford Bridge, Chelsea said in a statement on their club website: “Harry McGlinchey has completed a permanent transfer to Championship club Sheffield United.
Blades bolster academy ranks by signing duo
“Joining our Academy aged 14, McGlinchey was developed through the youth ranks and his Under-18s debut arrived on the final day of the 2023/24 campaign, in which he grabbed an assist against Arsenal.
“McGlinchey was a regular for the young Blues last season, making his Under-21s debut, and represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-19s.
“We thank Harry for his efforts throughout his time at Chelsea and wish him well as he begins a new chapter in his career.”
In a statement issued on Rangers’ website, confirming Eadie’s move to Bramall Lane, the Scottish club said: “Rangers Academy can today confirm Chris Eadie has joined Sheffield United on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.
“The forward, 18, featured for the Under-19s this campaign while also appearing on loan at Stirling Albion as part of the club's loan co-operation agreement with the League Two side.
“Everyone at Rangers wishes Chris the very best of luck for the future.”
