N’Golo Kante could end up staying at Al-Ittihad after all, as issues with the Chelsea legend’s deal have surfaced.
Chelsea were on the hunt for a central midfielder during the January transfer window, but they ended up abandoning those plans after losing out on Douglas Luiz.
One player who was linked with Chelsea is N’Golo Kante. It was believed that any deal for the Frenchman would be a loan until the end of the season, but nothing materialsied.
Kante actually ended up opting for a permanent deal with Fenerbahce, though that still hasn’t gone through.
It’s not just Chelsea that were involved in some deadline day drama.

N’Golo Kante believed his deal should go through
It’s safe to say that N’Golo Kante isn’t getting any younger at 34, so to see him chase a permanent deal over a potential Chelsea loan makes sense.
But even his move to Fenerbahce may not happen.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the deals are now off after FIFA rejected the appeals.
FIFA reject the appeal from both clubs, as it was verbally agreed but not here we go due to documents problems.
Kante even wrote a petition prior to the rejection, but it made no difference.

You can’t help but feel for N’Golo Kante
In a saga that even saw Cristiano Ronaldo go on a supposed strike due to Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante’s moves, it has now come to its climax.
It remains to be seen as to what will happen with Kante, but his chances of making the Euro 2026 France squad have taken a hit. That was the sole reason he wanted a move back to Europe.
It would have been incredible to see him back at Chelsea. However, the approach is now very much leaning to youth first, and Liam Rosenior is happy with his options.
