Liverpool have been branded ‘suckers’ after the paid a big fee to land Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet in the January transfer window.
It’s some strong words, obviously not written by me. But the words are written by a fellow French man, the same nationality as Jacquet.

Christophe Dugarry was a French World Cup winner and he has had his say on the transfer saga of the winter, as Liverpool beat Chelsea to signing the young centre back.
It appears that Dugarry believes that Liverpool have somewhat overpaid for the player and there is only one winner here – he former club Rennes.

In words picked up on SPTC today, Dugarry said on Jérémy Jacquet to Liverpool:
“When you have suckers like that… well done to Rennes. They managed to find a sucker like Liverpool that was [willing to pay] €70m. Let’s stop trying to pretend there’s a justification for it. There’s no justification whatsoever.”
Harsh words indeed but it looks like he doesn’t believe that a relatively unproven youngster should ever be going for that high amount of money and to be honest, he probably has a point, no?
In other news today
Axel Disasi’s loan move from Chelsea to West Ham was finally confirmed officially late last night by both Chelsea and West Ham, with the defender heading to The Blues London rivals on loan until the end of the season.
Mamadou Sarr’s return from Strasbourg to Chelsea was also confirmed, with The Blues deciding to trigger a clause to recall him from loan to come back to the club. It looks like Sarr will play an important role now at Chelsea for the rest of this season and beyond.
