The Philadelphia 76ers put their impressive 12-8 road record on the line Monday night against Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers.
The contest marked Philadelphia's second straight game without Paul George, who was suspended by the league last week.
Given George's absence, the 76ers saw the emergence of another young talent in their starting lineup. Dominick Barlow earned another start for Philadelphia this season, his 32nd of the year.
He took advantage of the increased opportunity, playing over 30 minutes for the first time since before Christmas. In those minutes, Barlow finished with 26 points on an efficient 10-for-16 shooting. Additionally, Barlow grabbed 16 rebounds, 10 of which came on the offensive glass. He also added two assists, one steal and two blocks with no turnovers.
Shockingly, this made Barlow the first Philadelphia 76ers player to score 25 or more with 10 or more offensive rebounds since Charles Barkley in 1990. This is especially impressive, considering his teammate and former MVP Joel Embiid has not accomplished the feat in his career.
When speaking about Barlow after the game, head coach Nick Nurse had a simple but appreciative message. "He puts in a lot of work and plays really hard."
With the win, Philadelphia improved to 13-8 on the road and have now won four straight. That said, their difficult road trip is just beginning. The 76ers will have the Golden State Warriors Tuesday on the second night of a back-to-back before finishing out their West Coast swing with games against the Lakers, Suns and Trail Blazers.
