Arsenal added to their youth ranks on Monday’s transfer deadline day with the signings of defender Jaden Dixon from Stoke City and midfielder Evan Mooney from St Mirren.
Both players are 18 and have first-team experience, but are expected to compete for minutes primarily at Premier League 2 level.
Centre-back Dixon came through the academy at Sp*rs before moving to Stoke City in 2023. He signed his first professional contract with the Potters in August 2024 and made two substitute appearances in the Championship shortly afterwards. Since then, he has featured exclusively at youth level and has represented England at under-18 and under-19 level. The Sun’s Simon Collings claims the deal is worth £500,000 while Fabrizio Romano says it’s £3.2 million plus add-ons – quite the discrepancy!
Attacking midfielder Mooney is a product of St Mirren’s academy and has made 11 Scottish Premiership appearances this season, all from the bench. He is also a regular for Scotland’s under-19s. Arsenal are thought to have paid around £400,000.
Arsenal were also linked with Hearts striker James Wilson, though the teenager has opted to join Sp*rs instead. Reports suggest Arsenal offered a trial, while our neighbours pushed for a loan deal with an option to buy.
Elsewhere, Osman Kamara, 19, has joined Championship side Blackburn Rovers in a permanent transfer after 12 years at Arsenal.
