Jaden Dixon has completed a transfer to Arsenal, two-and-a-half years after joining Stoke City from Tottenham Hotspur.

The 18-year-old England under-19s defender will join Arsenal's under-21s set-up in a deal that was publicly confirmed 22 hours after the transfer deadline had passed. He has only played nine minutes of league football for Stoke, while starting four games in the Carabao Cup.

The fee is undisclosed but has been reported as being worth as much as £3.2 million, similar to a reported £3m fee paid to Chelsea for winger Ato Ampah. The Sentinel understands that the numbers may broadly reflect where the fees could ultimately reach in a best case scenario once clauses are taken into account - but the initial fees are significantly less in both instances.

Stoke will maintain a sell-on clause with Dixon, as is now standard in deals for young players.

Dixon said: "My time at Stoke has come to an end. I want to say a huge thank you to all the coaches that have supported me over the years. Thank you Stoke City for a time I’ll never forget."

The centre-back leaves with Stoke's best wishes.

Stoke sporting director Jon Walters said: “Jaden’s dedication, and his work with the staff at the football club, have seen him progress well over the past three years, having joined us following his release from Tottenham

“He is a credit to his family and leaves with our very best wishes for his future career.”

Stoke let Favour Fawunmi join Leyton Orient on loan on deadline day to get regular first team football as the next stage of his development. Nathan Lowe has gone to Wycombe Wanderers on loan and Emre Tezgel will head back out to Crewe Alexandra when he is fit again after an ankle injury.

There was late loan interest from League Two in defender Jake Griffin which didn't get over the line. National League clubs can still use the loan market and the Potters are expected to use that avenue in the next few weeks.
