Cavaliers exploring blockbuster trades for Giannis, Davis, Harden

The Cleveland Cavaliers are exploring major trades to pursue superstars like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis, and James Harden. With Donovan Mitchell’s future uncertain, moving Jarrett Allen’s $90.7 million contract could create the financial flexibility needed for a blockbuster roster shakeup.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly exploring major roster moves such as trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis or James Harden as they consider breaking up their current core.

First reported by Brian Windhorst on ESPN Cleveland, the Cavs have spoken with multiple teams about potential superstar acquisitions.

"The Cavs have talked to the Bucks about Giannis, and the Cavs have talked to the Mavericks about Anthony Davis. And the Cavs are obviously talking about James Harden. And so this is why I started telling you a week ago that they're, like, trying for this big swing. There are trades that make these work," Windhorst said.

"I do not think that it's this likely that they're gonna be able to execute those deals, but they clearly do not believe that this team is good enough, or suspect that this team is not good enough, and they clearly have decided that they're willing to seriously consider breaking up their core. And when they came to those decisions, they went gigantic big-game hunting."

A key factor in any potential trade is center Jarrett Allen’s contract. The big man is owed $90.7 million over the next three seasons, creating challenges under the second apron.

League sources say Cleveland has explored ways to move Allen’s salary to unlock flexibility and make room for a possible Giannis-level trade.

With Donovan Mitchell’s future uncertain, the Cavaliers are studying bold options to reshape their roster and position themselves for a significant championship push.

Moving Allen could be the first step toward creating the financial and roster space needed to pursue a true superstar.
