There were not too many incomings at Chelsea during the January transfer window.
Mamadou Sarr was recalled from his loan at Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg, while Yisa Alao was signed from Sheffield Wednesday.
However, at 17, the latter will go into the Blues’ academy, as opposed to their first team.

Fortunately, Liam Rosenior already has quite a strong squad, boasting the likes of Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Joao Pedro. Still, Chelsea fans wanted to see arrivals last month.

Chelsea fans mentioned Lennart Karl, Dani Olmo and more
Heading into deadline day, The Chelsea Chronicle asked Chelsea supporters on TalkingPoints who they would sign if they had the opportunity to bring a new player to Stamford Bridge.
One fan suggested Bayern Munich’s Lennart Karl, another mentioned Barcelona’s Dani Olmo.
Fulham’s Calvin Bassey and Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi were the other names listed.

It is thought that Chelsea did consider Senesi, but in the end, they opted against making a move for the Argentine and recalled Sarr instead. Jeremy Jacquet was the central defender they really wanted, but he has joined Liverpool.

Marcos Senesi was a very realistic option for Chelsea
There were claims that Bournemouth were not open to selling Senesi; however, if Chelsea really wanted the 28-year-old, you still cannot help but feel that they would have got him.
The above may have been the Cherries’ public stance, but you cannot forget that Senesi is into the final six months of his contract.
If a £30m offer came in, Bournemouth may have preferred that to having Senesi for another six months before losing him on a free transfer.
The likes of Karl and Olmo were probably out of reach, but Senesi looked very attainable. Chelsea just had to make a bid, which they failed to do. Clearly, for them, it was Jacquet or nothing.
