Liverpool ‘legend’ has another club to choose from as he can make post-deadline day Celtic transfer

This former Liverpool star is attracting a lot of attention as he remains a free agent

Reports surrounding Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s next career move are ramping up after Mikel Arteta refused to rule out the midfielder’s return to Arsenal.

The 32-year-old is currently training with the North London club’s U21s team to build up his fitness after leaving Besiktas last year. Oxlade-Chamberlain had his contract terminated in August and he has been a free agent since.

The former England international signed for the Turkish club after his contract with Liverpool expired in 2023. Oxlade-Chamberlain won the Champions League and Premier League with the Reds and spent six years on Merseyside.

Who will Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sign for next?

The Gunners manager was asked about the club’s plans to recruit a new midfielder, to which he responded: “We are actively looking at options and we will continue to do that.”

He then replied that Arsenal will ‘explore every option’, when asked if a deal for Oxlade-Chamberlain could be on the table. However, other interest in the midfielder has emerged and Celtic are one of the latest clubs to be linked with a potential move.

According to Sky Sports, Celtic are ‘interested’ in signing Oxlade-Chamberlain and they have the luxury of being able to take their time with a potential deal. As he is free agent, there is no transfer deadline for the Scottish champions to adhere to.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain deemed Liverpool legend by Jurgen Klopp

While injuries were not kind to Oxlade-Chamberlain during his time at Anfield, he left the club with a strong relationship with the fans and Jurgen Klopp. The former Liverpool manager was full of praise for the midfielder before he left the club in 2023.

Speaking to the Liverpool website, Klopp said: “Ox is a super guy, an absolutely super guy.Ox won everything here at Liverpool FC, that’s unbelievable, so he will be a legend as well.”

As he eyes his return to football, Oxlade-Chamberlain has multiple options to consider. SportsBoom has reported that he is looking to make a grand return to the Premier League.

With Celtic interest emerging, they join the likes of Everton, Fulham and Sunderland who are also keen on the midfielder. A report from September claimed Leeds United and Rangers have been keeping tabs on his situation as well.
