Arsenal have confirmed the signing of highly-rated defender Jaden Dixon from Stoke City.

The 18-year-old has joined the Gunners for a fee of around £500,000.

Dixon, who came through the ranks at north London rivals Tottenham, moved to Stoke in 2023 and went on to play 49 matches for the club's Under 18s and Under 21s, as well as making six first team appearances.

He made his senior Stoke debut in a 2-0 Carabao Cup win at Carlisle United in August 2024 and his most recent senior appearance for the Potters came in the same competition against Southampton in October 2024.

The 2007-born centre-back has played seven times this season - all for Stoke's U21s. However, he had made the 20-man matchday squad for each of the Potters' five first-team matches before Saturday's defeat by Southampton.

On the international stage, Dixon has represented England at Under 17s, U18s and Under 19s level. He is also eligible to represent Jamaica.

A statement from Arsenal on Tuesday evening ended: "Everyone at Arsenal would like to congratulate Jaden and welcome him to the club."

Stoke also released a statement to confirm Dixon's move to Arsenal, with sporting director Jon Walters saying: "Jaden's dedication, and his work with the staff at the football club, have seen him progress well over the past three years, having joined us following his release from Tottenham.

"He is a credit to his family and leaves with our very best wishes for his future career."

Although he has made first-team appearances for Stoke, Dixon is expected to join up with Arsenal's youth team set-up with several players ahead of him in the senior pecking order.

16-year-old Marli Salmon is anticipated to be Dixon's main competition for a first-team call-up from the academy. The move comes as Arsenal focus on improving the talent pool of their youth ranks at the older age range.

Dixon is the second teenager to join Arsenal's academy system following Evan Mooney's move from St Mirren on deadline day. Mooney, 18, has made 23 senior appearances for St Mirren since making his debut in 2024.

The Gunners also tried to sign 18-year-old forward James Wilson on loan from Hearts, but he has instead joined Tottenham, who made a move for the teenager on deadline day and secured a late hijack.
