What Bulls trade for Jaden Ivey means for Coby White rumors

The dominos are starting to fall in Chicago.

The Bulls traded for Jaden Ivey on Tuesday afternoon in a three-team trade involving the Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves. Now, Coby White might be on deck.

White has been a rumored player to be traded away from Chicago for a while. This move only makes it easier.

If the Bulls had traded White and not gotten a point guard in return, their admittedly unexciting pursuit of a play-in spot would've been a lot harder.

Now, Chicago can run Ivey out there next to Josh Giddey and be just fine.

White's contract is up at the end of the season, and if the Bulls wanted to extend him, they already would've.

White was the Bulls' No. 7 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft out of North Carolina.

The 6-foot-4 guard has played 450 games in his NBA career, all with Chicago.

In his career, White averages 15.4 points and 3.9 assists per game.

This season, those averages are up to 18.5 points and 4.8 assists. He's shooting 35% from beyond the arc this season.

White would be a logical rental somewhere, and if another team thinks they can sign White to an extension, that would increase his trade appeal further.

But for now, it appears the Bulls are signaling that they'd like to see how Ivey can fit into their future, which could shortly mean the end of the Coby White era.
