Arsenal have officially announced the signing of highly-rated defender Jaden Dixon from Stoke City. The 18-year-old has made the switch to the Gunners for a reported fee of around £500,000.

Dixon, a product of the youth system at north London rivals Tottenham, transferred to Stoke in 2023 and racked up 49 appearances for the club's Under 18s and Under 21s, while also making six first team outings.

He made his senior debut for Stoke in a 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Carlisle United in August 2024, with his most recent senior appearance coming in the same competition against Southampton in October 2024.

The centre-back, born in 2007, has featured seven times this season - all for Stoke's U21s. However, he was included in the 20-man matchday squad for each of Stoke's five first-team matches prior to Saturday's loss to Southampton.

Internationally, Dixon has donned the England jersey at Under 17s, U18s and Under 19s level. He is also eligible to represent Jamaica.

In a statement released on Tuesday evening, Arsenal said: "Everyone at Arsenal would like to congratulate Jaden and welcome him to the club."

Stoke also issued a statement confirming Dixon's move to Arsenal, with sporting director Jon Walters stating: "Jaden's dedication, and his work with the staff at the football club, have seen him progress well over the past three years, having joined us following his release from Tottenham.

"He is a credit to his family and leaves with our very best wishes for his future career."

Despite having featured in Stoke's first team, Dixon is likely to link up with Arsenal's youth setup given the number of players above him in the senior hierarchy.

Sixteen-year-old Marli Salmon is expected to be Dixon's primary rival for a senior call-up from the academy ranks. The signing arrives as Arsenal concentrate on strengthening their youth talent pool at the higher age levels.

Dixon becomes the second teenager to enter Arsenal's academy structure after Evan Mooney's switch from St Mirren on deadline day. Mooney, 18, has clocked up 23 senior outings for St Mirren since his debut in 2024.

The Gunners also attempted to secure 18-year-old striker James Wilson on loan from Hearts, but he has instead moved to Tottenham, who swooped for the youngster on deadline day and pulled off a late hijack.
