The Celtics have been rumored to make a move to improve their roster/get out of the second apron for a while, and finally made that move on Tuesday.
They traded away guard Anfernee Simons in a deal that brought in center Nikola Vucevic.
The Celtics were able to fill in some of their weaknesses at the center position, but they now face a major gap regarding a backup guard, as their 14.2 points-per-game scorer this year is gone.
Celtics trading Anfernee Simons means another deal for a guard is coming
Celtics GM Brad Stevens might not be done making deals before Thursday's deadline, as he has 48 hours to see if he can find a new backup guard after trading away Anfernee Simons.
Stevens doesn't have to make a trade, but the Celtics won't have the reliable guard off the bench they depended on during the first few months of the season.

If a deal were to happen, it appears bringing in a cheap guard is the way to go, especially after they made a trade to get under the second apron.
They have some contracts they can look to shop in a small trade, with Xavier Tillman and Chris Boucher among players potentially on the block, as they're not getting a ton of playing time lately.
Those players mixed in with picks could get the Celtics a passable backup guard, who might not replace the production of Simons, but can give the Celtics more than they have right now after this trade.
The Celtics have gotten solid production from the likes of Hugo Gonzalez and Baylor Scheierman, so there's a scenario where they could get elevated roles in backup guard minutes after this trade.
