While the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors have been widely reported as the frontrunners for the Milwaukee Bucks superstar, the Charlotte Hornets have emerged as an unexpected contender in the race.
Ramona Shelburne of ESPN noted the Timberwolves and Warriors as the teams most interested in Giannis Antetokounmpo, but also gave a hint about Charlotte. "I think there are other teams we have not talked about that would be very surprising that are also making calls ... Charlotte is an interesting team."
Landing Antetokounmpo would instantly transform the Hornets into a completely different franchise. Pairing the two-time MVP with young star LaMelo Ball would give Charlotte one of the most dynamic duos in the Eastern Conference.
This season in 30 games played, Giannis averages 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game while shooting 64.5% from the field.
Those numbers show that despite all the trade rumors swirling around, the 31-year-old forward is still playing at an elite level. His efficiency from the field remains absolutely dominant.
