The NBA trade deadline is about to hit this Thursday, but as of this writing,Giannis Antetokounmpo is still with the Milwaukee Bucks. For all the rumors and teams linked to the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, Antetokounmpo remains on Milwaukee’s roster.
But that doesn’t exactly mean that teams are not trying to go after him.
There is still a chancethat the future Basketball Hall of Famer will be wearing a different NBA uniform past the deadline. It will be shocking, to say the least, but indeed a possibility.
The New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat are among the teams most linked to Antetokounmpo, which are all intriguing landing spots for him.
But crazier things have happened before in the NBA, so it can’t be fully discounted that an under-the-radar team surprises everyone and actually pulls off the trade.
How about the Portland Trail Blazers?
The Blazers have two former key Milwaukee players who played alongside Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday and Damian Lillard.
Is there a chance?
Bucks’ Antetokounmpo to the Blazers? Seems unlikely
The Blazers winning the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes will be a big shock, though it doesn’t seem that he is interested in the idea of getting traded to Portland.
“The fact that they don’t have a clear cut blue-chip prospect and that Giannis by all accounts does not want to head to that market place despite the connections with Jrue, despite the connections with Damian Lillard,”NBA insider Jake Fischer said recently.
In any case, the Antetokounmpo situation is going to be heavily monitored as the trade deadline inches closer and closer.
