The Carabao Cup final moved a step closer after the semi-final between Arsenal and Chelsea. The Gunners held a 3-2 lead from the first leg for the reverse fixture at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.
Arsenal secured a 1-0 win in the second leg in north London, with substitute Kai Havertz scoring the winning goal against his former club in stoppage time to see the Gunners reach the final with a 4-2 aggregate scoreline.
Wednesday night will see the second leg of the other semi-final take place between Manchester City and Newcastle United, with Pep Guardiola’s side holding a 2-0 advantage from the first leg at St James’ Park last month.
With Arsenal now booking a spot in the Carabao Cup final, it keeps the Gunners’ hopes alive of achieving a historic quadruple, with the Champions League, FA Cup and Premier League title still on the agenda.
Arsenal also have a chance to win the League Cup for the first time since 1993, when they beat Sheffield Wednesday in the final.
This is the first time that the Gunners have reached the final of the competition since 2018, when they lost 3-0 to Man City.
Carabao Cup final date and kick-off time
The Carabao Cup final is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 22 at Wembley Stadium.
However, the kick-off time is yet to be confirmed by the EFL, although there is the expectation for the game to get underway at 4.30pm as has been the case in previous years.
Due to Arsenal emerging victorious in their semi-final against Chelsea, their Premier League clash against Wolves - currently pencilled in for the weekend of March 21-22 - will need to be rescheduled.
How to buy Carabao Cup final tickets
Wembley Stadium have already confirmed that the two clubs who will be competing in the final will be responsible for the sale of tickets for the showpiece fixture.
As a result, Arsenal will handle the sale of the tickets for their half of the stadium on the day, while it’s still to be determined if it will be Manchester City or Arsenal who handle the tickets for the other half of the ground.
