NBA star Trae Young attends first NHL game, sits glass-side for Capitals’ 4-1 win over Islanders

Trae Young attended his first hockey game on Monday, and he picked a good one to sit glass-side for. At Capital One Arena, the Washington Capitals scored four unanswered goals to defeat the New York Islanders 4-1.

Young, who rocked an Alex Ovechkin third jersey, was in the house to return the favor to Ovi after the Capitals legend sat courtside for Friday’s Washington Wizards-Los Angeles Lakers game. Ovechkin later had a jersey swap with LeBron James outside the Lakers’ locker room.

When Young was introduced to the crowd, he signed a miniature basketball and threw it to one lucky Capitals fan.

Young even got a shoutout on the Capitals’ social media after John Carlson scored an empty-net goal from 181 feet away.

The Wizards traded for Young on January 7, sending CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert back in return to the Atlanta Hawks. Young has not yet played for the Wizards due to a sprained right MCL and quad contusion — though he’s done his best to assimilate himself and bring good vibes, like he did tonight, while he heals up.
