Jock Landale will become the latest Australian to pull on a Utah Jazz uniform, with the centre part of a multi-player swap ahead of the NBA’s trade deadline.

The Jazz pulled off a surprise trade to bring in star Memphis forward Jaren Jackson, with Grizzlies teammate Landale also making the move alongside John Konchar and Vince Williams Jr.

Memphis will receive three first-round draft picks and a quartet of Jazz players in the deal.

It means Landale will become the fourth Australian to ply his trade for Utah across the past decade. Along with Joe Ingles, Dante Exum and Patty Mills, Landale’s addition means the Boomers’ top four scorers from their famous bronze-medal winning game at the Tokyo Olympics will have had a place on the Jazz roster.

Landale is averaging a career-high 11.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this season, which was his first with Memphis after previously playing at Houston, Phoenix and San Antonio.

The 30-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent at season’s end. He faces a battle for playing time at the Jazz amid a frontcourt rotation that features Jackson, Lauri Markkanen, Jusuf Nurkic and the injured Walker Kessler.
