February 4 – Manchester City have confirmed a new multi-year deal with the UK’s best-known sports drink brand, Lucozade. From matchdays to training sessions, and across the men’s, women’s, and academy setups, player bottles, ice coolers, and training spaces will now be branded.

It’s a reminder of just how powerful football remains as a shop window for sports nutrition brands.

“We are delighted to welcome Lucozade as our new Official Sports Drink Partner,” said Kaitlyn Beale, Vice President of Global Partnership Sales at City Football Group. “As a brand recognised for performance and innovation, Lucozade is a natural fit to partner with the club, and we’re excited about the opportunities this partnership will bring as we continue to strengthen our elite performance environment across the coming seasons.”

No value was given for the sponsorship. Lucozade were the Premier League’s official energy drink partner from 1992 to 2012 before ending the sponsorship and turning its marketing focus to club deal, including one with Liverpool. Lucozade is also a sponsor of the men’s and women’s England teams.

“Keeping players hydrated and helping them refuel to carry on to the final whistle is what Lucozade was made to do,” said Matt Riches, European Head of Sponsorship. Football, he argued, is already part of the brand’s DNA.

“We’ve been synonymous with football and part of the fabric of the sport in this country since the start of the Premier League, supporting players and fans through every moment. Partnering with Manchester City, which is known for its footballing innovation, is an incredibly exciting next step for our brand.”

“Lucozade takes a unique approach to its football partnerships, supporting both the men and women’s team for every club it sponsors – a commitment it has been proud of since it started supporting the England men and women’s teams back in 2007.”
