Ødegaard to leave Arsenal?

Captain Martin Ødegaard may leave Arsenal in the summer.

It follows reports of a breakdown in the relationship between him and his manager Mikel Arteta, with the two said to be at odds over tactical decisions, and his role with the team.

Ødegaard was left out of the team to play Kairat in the Champions League last week, and did not feature in the starting line-up against Leeds United in the Premier League. He was not even in the squad for the second-leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Chelsea.

The Norwegian has attracted criticism from some sections of the Arsenal fan base in recent weeks, who feel that he is dropping too down, and that they would prefer him to be having a greater impact in forward areas. His productivity has also dropped significantly in terms of goals and assists as well.

Having signed a new contract last season that runs until 2028, Arsenal will demand at least £70 million, and there have been suggestions that Real Madrid might be interested in re-signing him.

Bayern Munich are among the other clubs who are monitoring the situation.
