Arteta drops huge transfer hint–Arsenal OFFICIALLY sign striker–Defender signs with Arsenal late

Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Jaden Dixon, Evan Mooney and Mikel Arteta that you may have missed…

Arsenal have made a transfer deadline day signing as they have snapped up teenage defender Jaden Dixon from Stoke City in a deal that reportedly cost the club around the £3.2 million mark.

The 18-year-old started his career with Tottenham, but moved north to join Stoke in 2023, making his professional debut a year later and has impressed the Gunners scouts over the past 12 months and a move was made by ARSENAL on deadline day.

The teenager now makes a huge step up to Arsenal, signing a four-year deal with the Premier League leaders, and Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the Gunners have paid an initial £3.2m for Dixon, with potential add-ons.

Dixon did not take long to make his way through the ranks at Stoke after joining from Spurs as a 16-year-old, Speaking in 2024, he said: ‘My time at Stoke so far has been pretty much perfect. Since I have been here, the love I have been shown is great, this is a real family club.

‘I feel like they have trusted me and put a lot of faith in me. They did that by putting me into the Under-21s straight away and I’ve just been able to thrive from there.’

He will join the ARSENAL academy, hoping to quickly make an impact in the Under-21 side and work his way towards the first team.

The January window was an opportunity for Mikel Arteta to add to his squad, sign a few players that would make a real difference for the rest of the season. Just like Manchester City and Liverpool managed.

Dixon is a player that ARSENAL have big hopes for and that is why they made this move at this stage of the transfer window, he will be hoping that he does not spend too much time in that under-21 squad.

Joining Arsenal is a massive decision to make and one that he will surely enjoy, it is probably just not the signing that Arsenal fans were hoping for.

ARTETA DROPS TRANSFER HINT

Mikel Arteta refused to rule out the possibility of signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on a short-term contract following confirmation of Mikel Merino’s injury that will keep the Spaniard out of action fora while.

Merino has made 33 appearances in all competitions for ARSENAL this season, scoring six goals and providing three assists, but it seems that his season could be over this campaign’

Mikel Arteta’s current central midfield options include Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard. An injury to any one of that trio would leave the Gunners vulnerable and place their silverware hopes at significant risk.

That has led to reports that Mikel Arteta may seek to sign former Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on a short-term contract that will help cover the injury that was suffered by Merino, and the Spanish boss did nothing but make those rumours worse.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been training back at Arsenal over the course of the last month having been without a club since leaving Besiktas in August: ‘We explore every option,’ said Arteta when asked whether his former teammate could represent a solution to his squad’s lack of midfield option”

Losing Merino has been a massive blow for Arsenal, but Mikel Arteta is not too worried that the midfielder could be out for some time as he has one of the best, and biggest squads in the Premier League.

Oxlade-Chamberlain would be there just to cover minutes here and there, he would not get much time on the pitch, and to be honest, would not make a difference to that ARSENAL side, this is a move that does not really need to happen.

If Arteta was that worried about the injury to Merino, if he was concerned that he could not cover the Spaniard while he is out, then he would have got the Gunners board to make a big signing.

But that never happened because he is not worried.

ARSENAL SIGN MOONEY

Arsenal have officially announced that young midfielder Evan Mooney has joined the academy from Scottish Premiership side St Mirren after impressing scouts over the past 12 months or so.

ARSENAL have been in the transfer headlines alot over the past few weeks, there has been so many players linked with a move to the Emirates, and there has even been a few players linked with a move away from the club.

But that does not mean that Arsenal are not looking to add some exciting young players to the side, and after a few months of scouting, his move to the Emirates has officially been confirmed by the Gunners.

Arsenal posted on the club website: ‘The 18-year-old has made 23 appearances in all competitions for St Mirren since making his senior debut at the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign.

‘A product of St Mirren’s academy, capable of playing in attacking midfield or as a centre-forward, Evan’s league debut came in October 2024 in a defeat to Hearts.

‘He went on to score his first and only senior goal just a couple of months later, coming off the bench to score an 88th-minute equaliser in his team’s 3-2 win away to St Johnstone.

‘In Evan’s early career, he has already experienced silverware, coming on in the Scottish League Cup final to see his team beat Celtic 3-1 back in December 2025.

‘A Scotland youth international, Evan has made six appearances at under-19 level for his country.

‘Everyone at Arsenal would like to congratulate Evan and welcome him to the club.’

IcFootballnews Says…

There are quite a few Gunners fans that have been hoping to see some big names make the move to the Emirates, they feel that Manchester City have improved the squad, so should Mikel Arteta for the final few months of this season.

Mooney is not really a player that Arsenal fans would have heard of too much, but he is a player that Arsenal have been watching for the past 12 months and now he is set to develop in that world famous Arsenal academy.

ARSENAL will train his and hopefully mold him into a player that could possibly make his name in the first team, he is a few years away from that, but he has alot of potential.

It is a massive decision to leave Scotland and make the move to Arsenal, but it is one that he will not regret as it will really help his development.
