Manchester United have completed the academy signing of youngster Solomon Honor. The goalkeeper has signed from Championship club Blackburn Rovers and he is set to train with the Under-21s.

Honor played for Manchester City's academy before his stint at Blackburn. Jason Wilcox and Stephen Torpey are familiar with Honor after their respective stints working for City.

The 19-year-old shot-stopper has made six appearances for Blackburn's U21s this term. Honor is expected to work as a training goalkeeper, supplementing sessions in between the sticks.

United have used training goalkeepers in the past to help the first-team and academy teams.

Torpey was appointed as United's head of the academy last summer after Nick Cox's departure. Luke Fedorenko (formerly head of academy recruitment) announced he was leaving shortly after Cox's exit.

Torpey joined City in 2014 and gradually worked his way up in their academy to become the head of coaching between the Under-15 and Under-23 age groups, a role in which he oversaw trophy wins.

United's U21s are the Premier League 2 leaders. Travis Binnion recently stepped up to work with the first team, which opened the door for Adam Lawrence to return to the club to manage the U21s.

Lawrence oversaw a treble with United's Under-18s in 2023/24, winning two trophies at the expense of rivals City. He is now helping the development of the U21s for the remainder of the campaign.
