Rangers remain linked with this January transfer target but there’s competition from the Premier League
Rangers are said to still be on the trail of winter transfer target Jens Hjerto-Dahl as they look ahead to their recruitment plans for the end of the season.
The Light Blues brought in four new senior players to boost their shot at closing down Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts. Hjerto-Dahl didn’t end up being one of them but the chapter hasn’t closed on their interest in him.
Danny Rohl’s side had been looking to potentially sign the midfielder over January. The 20-year-old had been on the Ibrox radar since last summer but a deal did not materialise. While their interest in Hjerto-Dahl remains, there is a long line of clubs enquiring about his signature.
Rangers still interested in signing Jens Hjerto-Dahl
According to The Rangers Review, the Light Blues are still keeping tabs on their long-standing transfer target. The idea of signing the Norwegian was revisited ‘in recent weeks’ but the club ultimately opted against bringing in another midfielder, having already agreed the transfer of Tochi Chukwuani from Sturm Graz at this point.
This hasn’t completely closed the door on Rangers’ interest in Hjerto-Dahl, though. Rangers remain keen on the 20-year-old but the report claims that any news of them having reached an agreement with his side Tromso over the winter window are false.
Rangers’ interest seems to remain surface level as ‘no offer’ has been put on on the table from the Glasgow side in attempt to strike a deal. Hjerto-Dahl will remain ‘under consideration’ for the Gers but he is not thought to be front-runner for Rohl’s summer plans.
Rangers face competition for transfer target Jens Hjerto-Dahl
Earlier in the window, multiple clubs were linked with Hjerto-Dahl’s signature alongside Rangers. Tuttomercatoweb reporter Marco Conterio posted on social media on January 29th that the midfielder is ‘one of the most sought-after players on the European market’.
Bestikas is said to be his destination of choice but there are other clubs in the running as well. Bournemouth reportedly made an offer for the Tromso star, while Premier League rivals and clubs across Europe have also shown interest.
Conterio name-dropped Rangers alongside Lazio, Union Berlin and Premier League rivals Liverpool and Everton. Liverpool had a quiet January transfer window despite their need for new defenders, while Everton have been actively looking to bolster their options under David Moyes.
